Merla, The Kickass Black Belter

As a graphic design piece, I decided to create a character named Merla, The Kickass Black Belter. Merla looks innocent, but is actually the one of the strongest entities on Earth. Inspired by overpowered characters such as Saitama from One Punch Man, Merla was created as a "balancer" to her world, representing the peak of martial arts.

Outside of her dojo, trouble always finds their way to her fists. Merla accepts that her power can be used for good, but does not actively use it to "save the world" since she believes there are other, more diplomatic ways of reaching peace. As a result, Merla prefers to keep to herself and does not get involved in other peoples' businesses. However, for some bizzare reason, Merla always magnetizes the most violent people to her. As such, her dream of "living a quiet, peaceful life" is seemingly always out of reach.

I developed a character turnaround sheet and drafted a couple of different versions of Merla using Adobe Photoshop, connected to a Wacom Intuos drawing tablet.
